Y-SHIP is an international convention hosted by the City of Yokohama, inviting highly innovative pioneers from around the world to take center stage as we work to solve global issues.

In 2023, Y-SHIP will be held again in Yokohama this time for a new and enhanced in-person convention. We are excited to welcome international innovators and pioneers to Japan in November!

WHY
Since Yokohama became one of Japan’s gateways to the world as the nation ended its isolation and began rapid modernization, millions have been drawn to this unique port city.
Around the world, cities and communities are facing challenges that we cannot solve alone. With the Y-SHIP Convention, Yokohama is drawing on its history as a port city and hub for international exchange for inspiration, to create an opportunity for global innovators to provide various solutions to these global issues and kickstart PoCs in Japan.
Y-SHIP ↔ ASCC
The convention will be held in conjunction with the 12th Annual Asia Smart City Conference (ASCC) in order to share policy topics faced by Yokohama and cities in emerging countries, as well as solutions to global issues such as carbon neutrality and food supply problems, while providing a platform for global businesses to get involved.

Y-SHIP Launch Event
An event to launch the new Y-SHIP Convention was held in March 2023 as a small, mostly virtual program that was just a hint of the things to come. Expect Y-SHIP 2023 to be a much bigger event, but you can view recordings of sessions from this launch event below.
