Former Yokohama City Hall to be transformed into Innovation Center

by | Sep 11, 2019

Yokohama City Hall is scheduled to relocate to Minato-Mirai district from Kannai district in 2020, and the city recently announced that it would be redeveloping the former building and surrounding site in Kannai. A committee comprised of Mitsui Fudosan and seven other partnering companies has been selected to redesign the site. Their plan is to preserve and highlight the highly valued architectural design of the existing building as a unique hotel. Additionally, a new building complex will be constructed nearby, with space reserved for cutting-edge domestic and global companies, and one of the universities based in Yokohama. This complex will serve as a business innovation center, including co-working and event space, to support startups and innovation-drivers.
