Yokohama joins Maryland Life Sciences’ Bio Innovation Conference through Kanagawa virtual trade delegation

by | Sep 29, 2020

Three Yokohama-based companies will be participating in this year’s Bio Innovation Conference, hosted by Maryland Life Sciences, a division of the Maryland Tech Council. The startups will be joining through a trade mission sponsored by Kanagawa Prefecture and JETRO, the Japan External Trade Organization.

This year’s Bio Innovation Conference will be conducted virtually on October 5th and 6th, with opportunities for virtual partnering, a virtual exhibit hall featuring customizable booths, and live-streamed sessions with industry experts on relevant topics in the life sciences field. Kanagawa will be joining Canada, Victoria and New South Wales of Australia, and the Midlands Region of the UK in the conference’s Virtual International Trade Delegations, which were created through a partnership between Maryland Life Sciences and the Montgomery County EDC.

Kanagawa Prefecture and Maryland State have had a sister state relationship since 1981, a connection acknowledged through a recently renewed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed by the governors of the two regions in 2019. Yokohama is the capital city of Kanagawa Prefecture, making Yokohama-based companies eligible to join the delegation.

Three Yokohama companies are set to attend:
