Top-level sales efforts to attract European companies

We held a seminar to attract companies in Berlin, where one of the world’s leading startup ecosystems has been formed. At the beginning of the seminar, the Mayor of Yokohama gave a presentation and invited startups and companies in the mobility field, that attended the seminar to expand their business activities to Yokohama!

Meeting with the Mayor of Frankfurt, city partnership agreement extension signing ceremony, and visit to Schule am Ried

Top officials met with Mayor Mike Joseph at Frankfurt’s City Hall to expand the Partner City Agreement between the two cities, which will be then extended every three years. In addition to the existing economic, cultural, artistic, and other exchanges, the agreement on further city-to-city cooperation includes citizen exchanges, fostering the next generation, and mutually cooperating for the success of “GREEN x EXPO 2027”. The delegation visited the sister school of Yokohama Municipal Sakuragaoka High School, Schule am Ried, where the students held presentations about their past exchange experiences and talked about their expectations for the upcoming visit to the high school students in Yokohama in November.

3 Sister Port – Meeting and discussion with the CEO of the Port Authority Hamburg (HPA)

Mr. Jens Meier, CEO of the Port of Hamburg, leading in the field of environment, discussed the decarbonization of the ports. We confirmed that both ports will continue to cooperate in the planning of a large-scale base for the import and supply of hydrogen and other resources to the European region and the formation of a Green Shipping Corridor. The delegation also visited the HafenCity, one of the largest waterfront development areas in Europe.

4 Meeting with the Mayor of Hamburg and visit to city facilities

To strengthen the cooperation, the delegation also met with Mr. Peter Tschentscher, First Mayor of Hamburg. After that, the group visited the Central Library of Hamburg and the Family Cafe Krümel to further develop the measures of “Yokohama as a city where people want to raise their children and where the next generation is brought up together”.

Observation of World Triathlon Series Hamburg

The participants observed the World Triathlon Series held in Hamburg from July 13th. The knowledge of advanced cases and operational know-how gained from the visit and exchange of opinions with those involved in the event will lead to the further development of the World Triathlon and Paratriathlon Series Yokohama and the creation of a lively city.

After the partnership between the Frankfurt comprehensive school Schule Am Ried and Sakuragaoka Municipal High School in Yokohama was established in 2017, the first visit by Schule am Ried to its partner school took place in 2018 and the school made return visits in 2019 and 2020, the exchange had to be put on hold for the time being as the visit by Schule am Ried planned for autumn 2020 had to be cancelled due to the pandemic.
