by | Mar 25, 2026

On 23 March, the Yokohama City Europe Office, in collaboration with the Consulate-General in Frankfurt and the JETRO Düsseldorf Office, held a business promotion seminar for German companies entitled ‘GERMANY MEETS YOKOHAMA’. Together with German companies based in Yokohama, they promoted Yokohama’s business environment to a wide audience.

At the seminar, following an opening address by Takeshi Ito, Consul General of Japan in Frankfurt, Kazuyoshi Sugano, Director of the JETRO Düsseldorf Office, gave a presentation on Japan’s business environment, the current state of investment in Japan, and the support services offered by JETRO.

The Director of the Yokohama City Europe Office also took the stage to highlight the appeal of Yokohama’s business and living environments, with a particular focus on the mobility and life sciences sectors, and to introduce the city’s own support programs.

In addition, Christian Mecker, President and CEO of Bosch K.K., headquartered in Yokohama, and Daniel Dilmetz of Compredict, a start-up developing ‘virtual sensors’ for the automotive sector, took to the stage to discuss the appeal and potential of Yokohama as a business hub from their respective perspectives.

The seminar attracted a large number of participants, primarily from German companies, and attendees posed numerous questions to both companies. Lively networking took place following the session.

This seminar was organized with the support of the City of Frankfurt—a partner city of Yokohama—the Frankfurt Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Japan-Germany Industrial Association. The Yokohama City Europe Office will continue to collaborate with relevant organizations to accelerate efforts to attract German companies.
