On June 10, Mayor Yamanaka of Yokohama participated in the plenary session of the international conference “Daring Cities 2026” held in Bonn, Germany. The conference, co-hosted by ICLEI and the City of Bonn since 2020, aims to connect urban climate actions with global climate negotiations by amplifying the voice of cities.

At the session, Mayor Yamanaka joined representatives from cities, national governments and international organizations in a panel discussion focusing on the role of cities in tackling climate change. Representing urban perspectives, he emphasized the importance of collaboration among diverse stakeholders to achieve a circular economy.

The Mayor introduced Yokohama’s initiatives to promote knowledge sharing and partnerships for building a circular city, including the launch of the Asian Circular Cities Declaration (ACCD). He explained that the ACCD framework supports participating cities in developing action plans, sharing best practices, and making policy recommendations to the international community.

Mayor Yamanaka also reaffirmed Yokohama’s commitment to leading the transition toward circular cities in Asia and around the globe by strengthening international cooperation and sharing innovative solutions.
