The Office of the City of Yokohama Representative to the Americas was honored to participate as a guest speaker at the NanoTech Innovation Exchange, held on June 17, 2026, at the SOSV office in New York City.

The event was organized to showcase university-driven technological innovations, foster connections between researchers, investors, and industry leaders, explore pathways for commercializing cutting-edge technologies, and promote collaboration within the nanotechnology sector. Approximately 173 participants, including startups, researchers, investors, and industry representatives, attended the event.

The event was organized by Campus Deep Tech, SOSV, and NanoTech NYC, with J.P. Morgan, the Office of the City of Yokohama Representative to the Americas, Columbia Angel Network, and BLS & Co. participating as supporting organizations.

The program featured presentations covering a wide range of fields, including semiconductor technologies, two-dimensional materials, nanocomposites, quantum materials, photonics, superconductors, energy technologies, batteries, catalysts, sensors, and other industrial applications. In addition, representatives from IBM, Air Liquide, Cota Capital, and SOSV led discussions on current industry challenges, while startups including Tessellate 2D, MXene Inc., Era73, Eneira, and Chemeleon delivered company presentations.

Researchers and founders from Columbia University, New York University, Princeton University, Yale University, the University of Pennsylvania, Rutgers University, the New Jersey Institute of Technology, Cornell University, and the City University of New York (CUNY) also participated, presenting research on topics such as perovskite transistors, AI-powered materials discovery, and rare earth element technologies.

During the event, Jadon Ricci, Project Manager at the Yokohama Office for the Americas, introduced Yokohama as a choice location for startups looking to expand into Japan and East Asia, and highlighted its concentration of companies and startups specializing in nanotechnology, semiconductors, advanced materials, quantum technologies, and photonics. He also provided an overview of the City of Yokohama’s business support programs for U.S. companies and startups, including services that assist overseas startups with establishing and expanding their businesses in Japan.

Additionally, he introduced GREEN×EXPO 2027, the International Horticultural Expo scheduled to be held in Yokohama in 2027 and discussed Yokohama’s role in connecting the innovation ecosystems of Japan and the United States.

The Yokohama Office for the Americas will continue strengthening relationships with deep tech ecosystems across North America, including New York, while supporting the overseas expansion of Yokohama-based companies and promoting the development of international innovation networks.
