On June 10 and 11, Mayor Yamanaka of Yokohama held a series of important meetings in Germany, reaffirming the city’s commitment to international collaboration in sustainability and economic exchange.
In Bonn, Mayor Yamanaka met with Gerhard Wiesheu, Chairman of the Japanese-German Business Association (DJW). DJW serves as a key platform for economic dialogue between Japan and Germany, bringing together around 1,000 members. During the meeting, the mayor introduced the upcoming GREEN×EXPO 2027 in Yokohama and the newly planned International Circular Exhibition. Both sides confirmed their intention to encourage participation from member companies and promote further economic collaboration.
The following day, Mayor Yamanaka met with Mayor Mike Josef of Frankfurt, a long-standing partner city of Yokohama since 2011. The two mayors reaffirmed their shared commitment to advancing sustainability initiatives, including efforts to reduce food loss and transition toward circular urban systems. They also agreed to strengthen exchange programs for youth and ensure the successful delivery of GREEN×EXPO 2027.
Furthermore, Mayor Josef expressed his intention to participate in the Asia-Pacific Circular Cities Forum (APCC-Forum) in Yokohama as a representative speaker, contributing to knowledge-sharing between Asian and European cities.
