On July 1, the City of Yokohama and the City of Dakar, Republic of Senegal, signed a Memorandum of Understanding on intercity cooperation.
The purpose of this MOU is to promote sustainable urban development in both cities and enhance their international recognition. The two cities will advance cooperation that benefits their citizens and local businesses through the sharing of expertise, knowledge, and best practices. Yokohama and Dakar will collaborate in areas including business and economic exchange, mutual exchange and development for the next generation, including students and youth, technical cooperation, and sustainable urban development, as outlined in the MOU.
Prior to the signing of the MOU, the Senegal Investment Business Seminar was held in Yokohama on June 30 as part of efforts to promote business and economic exchange. More than 180 participants attended the seminar, where they learned about Senegal’s business environment and the activities of Japanese companies operating in the country. Participants also had the opportunity to engage directly with Senegalese businesses. The event provided an important foundation for strengthening future business exchanges between the two countries.
