From November 8th (Friday) to 10th (Sunday), the City of Yokohama exhibited at the “Visit Japan FIT Fair #16” organized by JNTO, held at the Paragon Hall in Bangkok, Thailand. This marked the city’s third consecutive exhibition at this event since the establishment of the City of Yokohama’s Representative Office to Southeast and South Asia in Bangkok in 2022.
During the event, consultations were provided at the Yokohama booth about travel plans combining spots in Yokohama and near Mount Fuji, as well as family-friendly attractions in the waterfront Minato Mirai area of Yokohama and efficient itineraries. The brochures and promotional items handed out at the booth were entirely depleted by the end of the three days, despite the large quantity prepared this year, indicating booth visitors’ great interest in Yokohama. According to the surveys and tourist site votes, Yokohama’s coastal views and parks were particularly popular. Over half of the visitors indicated they were already familiar with Yokohama, including its tourist spots, before visiting the booth. More than 95% of those who responded to the survey indicated that after visiting the booth they were even more interested in visiting Yokohama.
The event featured booths from various regions in Japan as well, including tourist destinations, travel agencies, hotels, and airlines, with a long line forming for promotional tickets for flights to Japan, indicating most visitors already saw Japan as an ideal travel destination. The Asia office will continue its efforts to increase the number of visitors to Yokohama, including through this event in future years.
