Yokohama’s New York Office Participates in the 2026 Japan Parade and Street Fair!

by | May 11, 2026

The Office of the City of Yokohama Representative to the Americas recently participated in the New York Japan Parade & Street Fair 2026 on Saturday, May 9th, 2026! This marked the office’s third official participation in the event, with this year’s primary goal being the promotion of Yokohama’s GREENxEXPO 2027, being held from March to September of 2027. The booth was set up as a collaboration with the Council of Local Authorities for International Relations (CLAIR) New York Office, and Kanagawa Prefecture’s New York Office, working together to promote and converse with visitors to the parade about Japanese culture and tourism.

Despite the rainy weather, hundreds of visitors stopped by the booth to ask about Japanese food, history, culture, tourism, and of course, Yokohama. Many people even approached with specific questions about the Yokohama Green Expo after seeing the sign displayed in front of our booth, showing that knowledge and interest in the event is growing in the United States.

As part of the parade itself, a truck showing a promotional video for GREENxEXPO 2027 drove by, helping introduce even more of the parade’s visitors to the event, with Tunku Tunku, the Expo’s mascot, making an appearance in the video. Participating in this event along with CLAIR and Kanagawa Prefecture served as a very effective platform in order to promote the Yokohama Green Expo, allowing Yokohama to reach audiences even outside of Japan.
The Office of the City of Yokohama Representative to the Americas will continue to promote initiatives ensuring the success of the Yokohama Green Expo by building up its international network and sharing information from its office here in New York.
