Promoting Yokohama Tourism at Anime NYC 2026

by | Aug 23, 2026

The Office of the City of Yokohama Representative to the Americas promoted Yokohama as a tourism destination at Anime NYC 2026, held from August 20 to 23, 2026, at the Javits Center in New York City, in collaboration with and with support from the New York Office of the Council of Local Authorities for International Relations (CLAIR).

Anime NYC is one of the largest anime conventions on the U.S. East Coast. Featuring Japanese pop culture such as anime and manga, the event includes exhibitions, screenings, panel discussions, and appearances by creators and industry professionals. In 2026, the four-day event was expected to attract more than 150,000 fans from around the world.

At the booth, the Yokohama Office introduced the city’s tourism attractions through brochures and other materials, highlighting destinations such as Minato Mirai and Yokohama Chinatown. This marked the third time that the Office has promoted Yokohama at Anime NYC. As in previous years, many visitors showed an interest in Yokohama, providing another valuable opportunity to introduce the city to anime fans and others interested in traveling to Japan.

Through conversations with visitors, some expressed interest in including Yokohama in their future travel plans to Japan, reflecting the potential to connect interest in Japanese anime and pop culture with greater awareness of Yokohama as a travel destination.

The Office of the City of Yokohama Representative to the Americas will continue to make use of opportunities to directly introduce Yokohama to audiences with a strong interest in Japanese culture and travel, with the aim of increasing awareness of the city and encouraging more visitors from North America.
