On September 2, 2026, the Office of the City of Yokohama representative to the Americas participated for the second consecutive year in Stony Brook University’s annual Study Abroad Fair.
During the fair, the Office introduced study abroad opportunities at Yokohama City University (YCU) as well as academic and daily life in Yokohama to approximately 50 students. Common questions about the program included course offerings and credit transfer, availability of Japanese-language classes, access between student housing and campus, research opportunities, and scholarships.
Yokohama City University and Stony Brook University have maintained a partnership since 2019 and continue to promote student exchange, and Stony Brook University is listed as one of YCU’s exchange program partner institutions.
As exchanges between the two universities have continued, including participation in last year’s Study Abroad Fair, one Stony Brook University student was selected to study at YCU and began their exchange in Yokohama in September 2026. At this year’s fair, the Office also used maps and information on tourism and daily life to highlight the experience of studying and living in Yokohama.
The Office of the City of Yokohama Representative to the Americas will continue to use its network of universities in the United States to introduce opportunities to study in Yokohama and to support international exchange involving YCU and other universities in the city.
