Since the beginning of this year, the City of Yokohama’s partnership with Kanagawa prefecture and JETRO has successfully helped three foreign companies to establish new bases in Yokohama.
Two out of the three have moved into the WeWork which newly opened in Yokohama last year. In conjunction with the increasing co-working offices such as WeWork, companies and startups from various industries have been further gathering into Yokohama.
SEIKO IDEAS CORPORATION (Consulting – Vietnam)
The company offers comprehensive services for companies starting/expanding business in Vietnam, such as marketing, business matching, consulting, staff training, translating documents and interpreting. SEIKO IDEAS CORPORATION has had previous business with Japanese major companies, and had been requested to open an office in Japan by clients. The company established its representative office at WeWork Ocean Gate Minatomirai in February, 2019 and is conducting marketing research into the establishment of the corporation in Japan.
SEGRA Technologies Japan (Engineering – France)
SEGRA Technologies is a global company with 12,000 employees worldwide, providing industrial design and engineering services in the fields of automobiles, railways, ships, aviation, energy, etc. in 30 countries (140 locations). SEGRA Technologies Japan was established in April. 2019 at WeWork Ocean Gate Minatomirai, and it plans to support OEMs and material/parts manufacturers in the automotive field through designs that improve the added value of the products. The company also plans to expand its business according to the needs of customers in the fields of railway, ship and aerospace.
VISUAL SYSTEMS, INC. (IT – U.S.A)
Founded in 1996 in Hawaii, VISUAL SYSTEMS, INC. offers local Japanese companies located in Hawaii comprehensive computer system services: from the development of network systems for business, intranet systems, and E-commerce systems, to the sales and support of devices and software. The company opened its Japan branch in February, 2019 in Yokohama. The branch plans to promote the sales of cloud software using multilingual techniques in Japan and develop systems for various parts of the world.
