The City of Yokohama and the Yokohama Industrial Development Corporation (IDEC Yokohama) hosted the Yokohama Pavilion at the Embedded Technology/IoT Technology in Japan (ET/IoT Technology) event which was held from November 14 to 16 at Pacifico Yokohama. The Yokohama Pavilion was organized as an initiative of the city’s IoT innovation platform, IoT Open Innovation Partners (ITOP Yokohama), and 15 ET/IoT companies including local companies and members of ITOP Yokohama showcased their latest technologies and services in individual booths within the pavilion. Yokohama-based ET/IoT companies participating this year included CommuniCloud Japan Co., Ltd., Falcon Denshi K.K., Gitoh Systems Co., Ltd., and MedVigilance Inc. It is the 11th time that the city has organized the Yokohama Pavilion.
ITOP Yokohama
ITOP Yokohama is a platform launched in April 2017 by the City of Yokohama to promote collaboration between players interested in creating new IoT related businesses, including companies of varying sizes from a wide range of sectors. The platform focuses on IoT related innovation in areas such as big data analytics, AI and robotics, and supports its members through a growing list of activities such as individual project implementation, matching, creating new businesses and addressing social challenges, boosting SMEs’ productivity, and helping companies launch new projects and services. As of October 2018, more than 360 companies and organizations have become members of ITOP Yokohama.
ET/IoT Technology 2018
The ET/IoT Technology event, held with the aspiration of becoming the largest Edge Technology Tradeshow in Asia, attracted over 26,607 visitors over three days (as of 11/19/2018). In additions to exhibits by participating companies, various events such as the ET/IoT Technology Award, ET/IoT Technology Festa, IoT Innovation Challenge 2018, and ET Robocon 2018 were held. This year’s event also featured a special pavilion that turned the spotlight on 30 up-and-coming startups. The startups were given the opportunity to showcase their unique ideas and groundbreaking technology through pitch events and booth exhibits.
