CES, billed as the most influential tech event in the world, began today in Las Vegas, and features technology from established players and new startups from the most innovative companies in the world. This year the exhibition is slated to have over 3200 exhibitors to be exact, and among them at CES 2023 are two breakout Japanese companies from Yokohama that are making headway in the US with their innovative technologies: archelis and LOOVIC.
Archelis is developing an eponymous exoskeleton designed to support and offer relief to workers that are required to stand for long periods of time. They are currently targeting medical workers like surgeons and factory workers, all of whom spend many fatiguing hours on their feet doing their job. The “archelis” lower body exoskeleton allows these workers the relief of sitting while maintaining a standing posture by supporting their legs and lower body, while preserving the ability to stay mobile through a seamless and no-hands-required unlocking mechanism. It has to be tried to be believed, and attendees of CES 2023 will have the chance to try “archelis” out on the show floor.
LOOVIC is developing a neck-worn IoT device that uses bone conduction audio cues alongside tactile notifications to help guide those with poor spatial or directional ability. Smartphone map applications are useful but can require constant attention or frequent checking, at worst putting the user at risk and at best reducing the user’s connection to their environment. LOOVIC’s device is designed for those who get lost easily, even on routes they take regularly, and their technology allows users to customize their guidance, providing a feeling of comfort and safety, as if a real person was guiding them to their destination. At CES 2023, LOOVIC will be providing a device demonstration event, giving attendees the chance to experience their user-friendly guidance.
Archelis and LOOVIC will both be exhibiting at the Japan (J-Startup) Pavilion, hosted by the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) from January 5-8, 2023. The Japan Pavilion is located at Eureka Park, the startup area at CES: Venetian Expo 1F Hall G. We encourage all attendees to visit the Japan Pavilion at CES 2023 to see Japanese startups like archelis, LOOVIC, and all of the other exciting innovations coming out of Japan.
