The Smart City Expo World Congress, the world’s largest international conference and exhibition on smart cities, was held in Barcelona, Spain, November 7-9. Approximately 25,000 visitors, over 800 cities, and more than 140 countries and regions participated, with over 500 speakers and more than 1,000 exhibitors. Yokohama has been a continuous participant in the conference since 2011 when it received the “World Smart City Award” in the city category. At this year’s conference, Yokohama exhibited a booth in the Japan Pavilion to promote the city’s smart city-related measures and initiatives for decarbonization through public-private partnerships, as well as the GREENxEXPO2027 international horticultural exposition to be held in Yokohama in 2027 and Yokohama’s business environment. In addition, the European Office Director gave a presentation on Yokohama’s efforts toward decarbonization and networked with domestic and international stakeholders.
