Deep Tech Forum is a series of events organized by the Japanese venture capital firm Monozukuri Ventures held multiple times throughout the year in different regions, highlighting for a Japanese and international audience the key points of each region’s deep tech ecosystem and promising startups, while simultaneously showcasing Japan’s role as a gateway for international expansion. These events bring together investors, business leaders, and key players to increase opportunities for international collaboration with Japan, creating a global interconnected network.
In January 2025, Deep Tech Forum came to NYC as a two-day event. The first day consisted of a conference-style event with a keynote and panel discussion on the future of tech innovation in New York, pitch sessions from Japanese companies focusing on robotics, AI, climate tech, and more, and networking opportunities to strengthen global connections across attendees. The second day featured site visits at top innovation hubs across the New York City and New Jersey region, including Brooklyn Navy Yard, Newlab, and HAX, where the primarily Japanese group was able to meet cutting-edge startups and innovation supporters driving change in these local ecosystems’ urban tech, mobility, and other industries.
Yokohama City was a sponsor of the event, and presented on its unique and robust ecosystem including a strong deep tech industrial core for the audience during the first day. Yokohama City has been working with Monozukuri Ventures for several years, having participated in previous Deep Tech Forum events held across North America, but at this event a new chapter in the partnership was unveiled. Yokohama and Monozukuri Ventures announced that an upcoming Deep Tech Forum in March 2025 will be hosted in Yokohama City. Deep Tech Forum Yokohama 2025 will bring an international collection of innovators to Japan to showcase Yokohama’s ecosystem and strengthen global networks in much the same way as Deep Tech Forum NYC did.
Look forward to news on the results of Deep Tech Forum Yokohama in March, and keep an eye on Deep Tech Forum for more opportunities to connect with Japan.
