On October 1, the City of Yokohama hosted the “Yokohama–Bangkok Climate Action Day (BKK CAD)” together with the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration and the Overseas Environmental Cooperation Center, Japan (OECC), as part of the first “Bangkok Climate Action Week (BKKCAW)” held in Thailand. BKKCAW is a week-long public platform where citizens can learn, get involved, and take action together. Taking place from September 23 to October 5, 2025, the event featured expert talks, environmental technology exhibitions, and educational programs for local communities, focusing on everyday challenges such as air pollution, heat, and flooding.
BKK CAD was carried out as part of the city-to-city collaboration between the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration and the City of Yokohama, supported by Japan’s Ministry of the Environment. The initiative seeks to showcase Bangkok’s climate action efforts, encourage the exchange of knowledge and experience in low-carbon technologies and greenhouse gas reduction, and promote business matching between Thai and Japanese private companies.
Participants included representatives from private companies in Thailand and Japan, as well as students from Yokohama National University, Ferris University, and Kanagawa University in Japan, and Chulalongkorn University in Thailand. The workshop also provided a platform for knowledge exchange among young people from both countries. It is expected to further strengthen cooperation between the two cities and contribute to the realization of sustainable low-carbon cities.
